As part of the Our Cities Ourselves exhibit currently on view in Buenos Aires , Saskia Sassen, Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair of the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University, spoke about building sustainable cities for a greener future. She stressed the importance of bringing together experts and specialists in various fields and to consider technological, environmental, and social aspects for improving the urban realm.

The event packed the MARQ museum of architecture with hundreds of attendees filling the room and overflowing to the ground floor, where they listened via the speaker system. Following Sassen, a panel of local experts responded, including the Secretary of Transportation for the City of Buenos Aires Guillermo Dietrich, ITDP Argentina Director Andrés Fingeret, President of the Central Society of Architects Enrique García Espil, and Andrés Borthagaray, Latin America Director for the Institute for the City in Motion and the PSA Peugeot-Citroën Foundation.

Other noted guests that evening included Enrique Olivera, the Former Mayor of Buenos Aires; Roberto Agosta, Professor of Transportation Planning at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Universidad de Buenos Aires and Universidad Católica Argentina; and a diverse group of various other government officials, students, and professors.
