Traffic education and discipline are critical for road safety in a teeming city such as Jakarta. With millions of cars, motorcycles, public buses and pedestrians jostling with each other for space on heavily congested roads, accidents are inevitable.
We do not know the exact numbers of accidents on a daily or monthly basis, but given the high number of deaths involving TransJakarta buses, they must be substantial. Every major city in the world must grapple with this issue and Jakarta is no different.
