City Commits to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Jakarta Provincial Government continuously conducts efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through various development programs which in line with mitigation and adaption toward climate change efforts. Moreover, the city government also conducts analyst research toward sectors which potentially produce carbon. Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said that the various mitigation and adaption efforts are the implementation from Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Among the climate change anticipation efforts are kerosene conversion to LPG for households, environmentally friendly energy diversification for transportations such as TransJakarta bus and gas-fueled Bajaj. Then, energy utilization development such as solar power electricity in Thousand Island Regency, integrated waste disposal plant (TPST) construction in the city with integrated treatment facility (ITF) concept, eco-drifing, and mass rapid transit (MRT) construction plan.
