As many as 132 units of Transjakarta buses made in China have finally arrived in Jakarta. Currently, these buses have been placed in the pool on Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, East Jakarta. As planned, they will be operated in January 2014.

Head of Land Transportation Section for Jakarta Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo expressed the buses are still waiting for the process of goods procurement documents. “132 units of Transjakarta bus have been arrived through Tanjung Priok Port and is currently placed in the pool on Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan,” he stated, Friday (12/20).

He disclosed the target of Transjakarta bus procurement is using the 2013 budget, totaling 310 units of buses, with a total budget of Rp 848 billion. Other buses will arrive gradually at the latest in January 2014. While for 132 buses are already coming and will operate in January 2014. “It’s still a process, but all buses have passed the roadworthiness test (kir),” he uttered.

In accordance with Governor Regulation No. 141/2007 about Gas Fuel Usage for Public Transport and Local Government Operational Vehicle, as well as Bylaw No.2/2005 about Pollution Handling and Law No.32/2009 about Protection and Environment Management, where all public vehicles must use gas fuel.

 Learning from failure of bidding and auction process that takes a long time, Jakarta Provincial Government will no longer use the system of bid auction next year. But Jakarta government will use the e-catalog system through the Government`s Goods and Services Procurement Agency (LKPP).

The target for bus procurement next year was totaled fantastic, reaching 4,000 buses. The bus consists of 3,000 medium-sized buses and 1,000 Transjakarta buses. “We have sent a proposal to the council. We just wait, whether it is approved or not,” he uttered.

He added, the purchase of medium-sized and Transjakarta bus was a priority of Jakarta government in allocating budget in 2014. Its procurement in large quantities is also to minimize the invasion of cheap cars. Besides congestion handling, Rp 67 trillion from 2014 City Budget (APBD) will be allocated for flood handling.
