The World Urban Forum (WUF) is a non-legislative technical forum convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) held since 2002. This year WUF 9 will be held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, from 8 – 13 of February 2018. It is recognized as the foremost global arena for interaction among policymakers, local government leaders, non-governmental organizations and expert practitioners in the field of sustainable urban development and human settlements. The Theme of the Ninth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF9) “Cities 2030, Cities for All: Implementing the New Urban Agenda” 

On 8th of February 2018. ITDP will host a networking event with a theme of “What Does Inclusive Transit-Oriented Development Mean to You?”. This year, ITDP will announce a policy brief series on what effectively inclusive TOD means, precisely, for specific groups that experience specific forms of exclusion, like women, children, the elderly, the disabled or people that live in settlements with lack of accessible infrastructure. We hoped this networking event will provide a window through which the prospects of dealing inclusivity in development may be better understood and addressed.  Also at 1 – 2 PM, on the same day, ITDP India and Mexico will appear as a speaker inside event title “Planning for Sustainable Mobility: A Dialogue on Partnership, Process, & Pilots” discussing how BRT and bike-sharing are being implemented in Egypt, India, and Mexico to improve mobility

Lastly, on 13th of December ITDP will present a panel on “Women, Access, and Transport.” as a part of the special session on Urban Safety and Accessibility. ITDP and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization are working on Engendering TOD, a policy brief that touch the gendered aspect of TOD and show TOD can affect women’s rights, social inclusion, access to urban services, education, healthcare and means of economic development and improving their quality of life. We believe that improvement of accessibility, especially of the most vulnerable groups, including women and girls, improves their chances to access life-enhancing opportunities that cities offer, whether these are in social, economic, political and cultural arenas.
