ITDP Indonesia at UK PACT Regional Knowledge Sharing Event: Achieving Inclusive Low-Emission Mobility in Indonesia

The “UK PACT Regional Knowledge Sharing Event: Achieving Inclusive Low Emission Mobility in Indonesia” was held from February 26 to 28, 2025. Organized by Clean Air Asia and the University of York Consortium, this event brought together various stakeholders, including policymakers, academics, and transportation experts, to discuss strategies and partnerships to advance low-emission mobility in Indonesia.
ITDP Indonesia, represented by Ciptaghani Antasaputra, Senior Transport and Design Engineering Associate, and Mizandaru Wicaksono, Senior Transport Associate, participated as speakers on the event’s second day.
During the active mobility session, Ciptaghani Antasaputra discussed the importance of improving the walking and cycling infrastructure in the city of Bogor. He pointed out several challenges faced by Bogor in providing safe and connected public spaces for walking and cycling, one of which is the inadequate access to or at facilities supporting public transport services. Ghani also presented a roadmap for improving walking and cycling infrastructure, which included priority areas, complete street design principles, recommendations for the city’s bike network, physical interventions at bus stops, and conceptual designs for infrastructure categorized by different typologies.
Next, in the operational management of BRT session, Mizandaru Wicaksono discussed the complexities of integrating public transport across the Jabodetabek area, where multiple institutions manage services with different geographic scopes, priorities, financial resources, and service levels. He noted that although institutions responsible for public transport in Jabodetabek exist, coordination between the central, provincial, and municipal governments remains suboptimal. To address these issues, Mizan emphasized the importance of institutional integration to ensure fair and consistent public transport services, equal service standards, efficient routes, and coordinated planning and oversight, ultimately meeting service standards and fulfilling passenger needs throughout Jabodetabek.
