ITDP Indonesia Shares Expertise with UGM Students
On 3 March 2026, ITDP Indonesia welcomed 15 students from the Urban and Regional Planning program at Universitas Gadjah Mada for a data collection and interview session on urban transport, conducted as part of the research for their Thematic Studio coursework.
The discussion focused on regenerative cities and urban mobility, creating a constructive platform for academic exchange. Students explored questions related to Jakarta’s transformation toward a global city, as well as key aspects of sustainable urban mobility and spatial planning, including Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), walkability, transport integration, and strategies to address urban sprawl.
Deliani Poetriayu Siregar as the Deputy Director and Rahmad Wandi Putra as Senior Transport Associate, represented ITDP Indonesia in the session. In response to the students’ questions, they shared data-driven perspectives drawn from recent studies, along with best practices, policy developments, and on-the-ground challenges in advancing sustainable and integrated urban transport systems. Using implemented examples from around the world, as well as how Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia compare to them, ensures a comprehensive approach aimed to broaden the students’ perspective.
Through this engagement, ITDP Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting academic research and fostering dialogue with future urban planners in Indonesia.
