ITDP Indonesia Takes Part in a Regional Dialogue on Inclusive Transport and Clean Air Innovation: The Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2026 Conference in Bangkok

The Better Air Quality (BAQ) Conference took place in Bangkok from March 8 to 13, 2026, featuring a series of pre-events, side events, and plenary sessions. Organized by regional partners committed to improving air quality in Asia, the conference focused on advancing actionable solutions, including national- and city-level policies for sustainable development. The event brought together policymakers, academics, and transport experts to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration across the region.

ITDP Indonesia participated in two programs during the conference. On March 9, during a pre-event, Rifqi Khoirul Anam, Transport Associate, joined the open forum discussion titled “Driving Action for Clear Skies: Inclusive Transport and Community-Led Clean Air Innovations in Southeast Asia and India.” Alongside speakers such as Rhea Karan, as Associate Project Manager from Purpose, and Alberto H. Kimpo, as the Assistant City Administrator for Operations from the Local Government of Quezon City, Rifqi highlighted the role of public transport electrification—such as Transjakarta and Mikrotrans—in advancing inclusive mobility in Jakarta. He also emphasized supporting strategies, including fare subsidies and service design improvements, to enhance accessibility for vulnerable groups.

On March 11, Deliani Siregar, Deputy Director of ITDP Indonesia, also participated in a session of the main conference program titled “People-Centered Solutions: Making Inclusive Urban Planning Work for Clean Air and Climate Action.” Deliani presented ITDP Indonesia’s 2022 initiative on developing inclusive Transjakarta bus stops, offering a city-level case, demonstrating how inclusive planning can improve air quality and climate outcomes. Joining Rowena Zapanta, City Administrator and City Planning and Development Coordinator of Antipolo, and Tul Pinkaew, Founder and Director of Strategy at SideKick Creative Media Agency for Social Change who shared experiences from the Philippines and Thailand, she underscored the importance of actively involving persons with disabilities in designing transportation systems that are accessible to all.
