The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Global Environment Facility (GEF) Indonesia project (2007-2011) “Bus Rapid Transit and Pedestrian Improvements in Jakarta” with project number is IMIS: GFL/2328 – 2723 – 4960 has been implemented since December 1, 2006. The December 2006 activities are included in this report because they were preparatory in nature and no Half-Yearly report was filed after December 31, 2006. The overall objective of the project is to maximize effectiveness of the Jakarta bus rapid transit (BRT) and use it as a catalyst for urban transport reform in Jakarta and other key Indonesian cities through the accomplishment of two sub-goals and nine specific objectives.
The activities from December 2006 to June 2007 are mainly involved with the project preparation and start-up, staff recruitment, office provision and set-up, relationship building with key personnel of DKI [special provincial area] Jakarta government, work plan preparation, and starting some activities on building awareness and capacity for potential stakeholders on BRT & electronic road pricing (ERP).
