One year after the historic pledges made at Rio +20 to support sustainable transport, ITDP and other organizations have released a report on the initial progress made, noting that these voluntary commitments are on track.  In addition to the 16 original pledges made at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio in June 2012, six new pledges have come on board with the UN to evaluate progress on sustainable transport in the years to come to help ensure accountability of these commitments.

“These new commitments will make it possible for the transport community and other development partners to better observe and track how the sector develops and what the impact of policies and measures will be on the sustainability of the transport sector at the global, national or local level”, said Michael Replogle, Managing Director for Policy and Founder of the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy.
