ITDP Indonesia Shares Insights on Public Transport Electrification at Timor-Leste National Workshop

ITDP Indonesia participated as a speaker at the Timor-Leste National Workshop for Public Transport, hosted by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), on March 26. Joining virtually, Rifqi Khoirul Anam, Transport Associate at ITDP Indonesia, explored the topic of electric public transport and e-bus implementation in Indonesia. He also shared insights on the business case for public transport electrification, including financing and business models, for policymakers and other stakeholders.

The presentation also highlighted key aspects supporting the electrification of public transport, including ITDP Indonesia’s policy recommendations and case studies from programs implemented in collaboration with Multilateral Development Banks (MDB). As a result, the presentation generated strong interest among stakeholders from Dili, leading to a range of questions—from technical aspects of electric buses and their operating systems to the sustainability of their business models. The workshop aims to build positive perception of stakeholders, simultaneously shaping a baseline of momentum for public transport transformation in Dili, Timor-Leste.
