Traffic problems in Jakarta which getting complex demand for a more comprehensive handling, including in parking arrangement and management. Therefore, Jakarta Provincial Government revised the Bylaw No. 5/1999 about Parking and submitted it to the District Legislation Board (Balegda) of Jakarta Parliament (DPRD) for further studies. This parking bylaw draft consists of 21 chapters and 87 articles. In this bylaw, the city government will encourage more about off street parking implementation.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said the parking setting and training in Jakarta are regulated through Bylaw No. 5/1999. However, as the city transportations are getting develop, the bylaw is felt no longer able to cope with growing parking problems nowadays. “Therefore, we revised the bylaw and adjusted its content with the development of city transportations to be able to parse congestion caused by on street parking,” he stated, Saturday (9/10).
