The director of ITDP Southeast Asia Emphasized the case studies concerning electric buses in Indonesia at the APAC Conference

Gonggomtua Sitanggang, Director of ITDP Southeast Asia, participated as a panelist at the Fourth Conference on Clean Buses in APAC: Deployment of Electric and Hydrogen Buses and Infrastructure, hosted by Global Mass Transit at Four Points by Sheraton, Singapore, on March 21, 2024. The event convened key stakeholders and industry players involved in e-bus deployment across the Asia Pacific region.

During the closing session titled “Zero-Emission Buses – One Goal, Many Routes,” Gonggom, alongside Mohammad Abou El Enein from Wiener Linien GmbH & Co KG Austria, and Paul Bromley, an independent consultant from China, shared their insights on lessons learned from each region they represent. Gonggom explained one of the lessons learned with continuous participatory planning with vulnerable groups on inclusive e-bus accessibility and facilities through constant FGD and field surveys with people with disabilities, women, older persons, and children. Gonggom also added preliminary market consultation to gather input on concerns from medium and small bus operators regarding Transjakarta’s electrification for inclusive e-bus accessibility and facilities. Furthermore, Gonggom emphasized presenting case studies concerning electric buses in Indonesia, drawing lessons from Jakarta, Bandung, and Medan.
